On May 19 2024, an A&E doctor collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest during a tennis game at his condominium. His fellow doctor friends quickly called for ambulance, performed CPR, and searched for an AED, but none were available in the building. They had to sprint to a nearby location, and by the time the AED arrived, he had been unresponsive for 15 minutes—far too long in a cardiac emergency. Ideally, access to an AED should be within 1.5 minutes.
Fortunately, his friends did not lose hope and used the AED until paramedics arrived and ultimately revived him. This incident underscores the urgent need for accessible AEDs in residential communities. The combination of CPR and AED use can increase survival rates by up to 50%, and every minute counts.
🏢 Let’s advocate for AEDs in all condominiums! Residential properties must prioritize the safety of their residents by ensuring these life-saving devices are readily available. If your condominium doesn’t have an AED or needs to replace an old one, contact us today at +65 6744 5911 or email sales@htmmedico.com.sg.
Together, we can create safer communities and provide everyone with the best chance at survival!
